Dr. John E. D. Ball has had extensive experience successfully developing and implementing large national-in-scope TV systems and services including:
· The design and implementation of the first satellite-based national TV distribution network
· The development of the closed captioned (CC) TV technology
· The successful national introduction of the CC TV service
· Marketing of five generations of CC TV set top boxes and a single CC TV decoder chip that led to the passage of the Decoder Circuitry Act of 1991
· Moderating a series of round table discussions with senior TV executives on the broadcast DTV transition
· Long-time advocate of the need for a comprehensive broadcast-centric DTV business plan
